How to Make an Audrey 2 Halloween Decoration

Do you ever feel like this? My daughter tells people that our house is what happens when Michael's and Hobby Lobby had a baby. So when I saw this cute Audrey 2 from Little shop of Horrors at Michael's I wanted it. But I am also cheap and didn't want it 199.00 worth. So I set out to make it at hopefully a fraction of the cost. I probably could have made it for less than 10 if I was at my house when the desire to recreate Audrey happened. However, I was at my boyfriends house. Surprisingly, a former U. S Marine minimalist bachelor with no children has no craft supplies at his house. None. Not even a hot glue gun. So I went in to the craft with nothing. The damage? Just $28.86.

Lets start with supplies:

These are the supplies that I used they can be substituted with similar items if you can't find everything exactly.

Foam half circles (Hobby Lobby)

Paint:; 2 shades of green, brown, red and white

Pot (I couldn't find a flower pot so I used a foam bucket with a lid)

paint brushes (seriously he didn't even own paint brushes)

tooth picks

hot glue gun and sticks

dowel rod

Leaves (I pulled them off a bouquet of roses)

You'll see fall leaves in the picture I didn't use those

Step : Paint everything. I painted the bucket brown, the half circles and dowel got painted the lighter green. If you want to add mini Audrey 2 for the bottom you can get mini pumpkins and paint those. I got them at Hobby Lobby. Once everything dries I painted some darker green accents on the half circles then added red for the lips.

Once everything dries I added a brick I found outside to add some weight to the foam bucket. Poked a hole in the top of the lid (hot glued the lid down) and then added the dowel. I also added some hot glue around the hole to give it some added stability.

I added the teeth to one side of the circles and gently pushed them together. I added them to just the from the the circles. This also holds the two halves. I would suggest to paint the tooth picks white. I forgot this step when I did it.

See this adorable Bassett Hound? That's my boyfriends dog Flash. He thought it would be a great idea to walk through my paint and then run down the hall. Will may never let me craft at his house again. (Kidding he didn't care)

Next poke a  hole in the head and gently push it onto the dowel. I added hot glue around the area where the head and the dowel meet for stability.

I pulled the leaves off of the rose bouquet and glued them onto the dowel. I wish I could have found a green leaf garland but apparently those are all sold out.

I painted the little pumpkins green and pushed the pick into the top of the bucket lid.

Including paint drying time this project took me 1.5 hours.

Quarantine Update

Remember back in March when I said I was going to chronicle life while in quarantine? Well turns out I did a bunch of nothing even though I had basically three months off work. The road to hell is paved with good intentions I guess.

But, let me tell what did happen the last three months. Em and I had super big plans for her 16th birthday. We were going to New York. We had tickets 8 rows back from the stage to see Wicked. Well Broadway shut down, New York became a hot spot so we had to cancel our trip.

What happened instead was a guy from my home town who I had heard of (his dad was the Dr. that fixed my arm when I broke it and left me traumatized lol) but we had  never met (he went to a different school) started messaging me. We decided to meet (on the day I would have been watching Wicked) We hit it off and have been basically inseparable. If you follow me on instagram you have already seen him because he is basically the only thing I've posted lately.

Quarantines Day 8-9

Lets start with a State of Kentucky report:

The governor has ordered all non essential retail businesses to close. People are rejoicing that liquor stores count as essential. I am a little sad that Hobby Lobby does not count as essential. I think Lowes counts as essential I have several projects I want to finish while I am home.

People started a fb group so people can make and share memes about what a great job our governor is doing. Its not often Kentucky makes the news for doing something right. You may remember several years ago when the county clerk in my town made international news for not doing her job. You may have also seen our previous governor in the news for being a dumbass. I have designed some shirts for my shop showing my love for our leadership.
Andy For President

We have over a hundred cases of the virus so far, thankfully none in my town yet.

Now on to the State of Holly report:

I am mildly embarrassed at how well the McDonalds drive thru staff knows me know. Its just so convenient because its right across the road from my house. I don't even have to get out of my post apocalyptic wardrobe of sweats and a tshirt with no bra. Also I haven't exercised in days and have eaten my weight in food everyday.

Non essential businesses apparently include cell phone repair stores. I had a massive freak out when my phone started having vertical lines through it and fading so much I couldn't see the screen. Thankfully I was able to call in a favor from a friend that does phone repairs and he hooked me up with a new screen. It did have a weird glitch tonight and kept typing q in a message like it was possessed and it doesn't want to go to a black screen when you are talking on the phone. Thankfully, I rarely actually talk on the phone so it should be fine.

I am trying to keep busy. Today I tackled the huge task of cleaning out my filing cabinet and purging stuff I didn't need to keep. I've been dreading that job for months.

I've also started rewatching Greek on Hulu. I forgot how good that show was. Team Cappie all the way.

Quarantined Day 1-7

Lets revive this old blog and  hopefully while I am off work for the foreseeable future I'll be more regular about posting.

So, what do I hope to accomplish here? Nothing lol. I just want a place to journal what is going on possibly share some tips, maybe make you laugh. Basically, how am I spending my time now that I am working from home, and home schooling an honors/AP student. Imagine the good old days of journal blogging. That's me right now.

So lets call it day 7 of quarantine. Really that just means day 7 since all the schools closed.

What you have missed days 1-6 obviously I mean Kentucky Specifically. Schools closed, restaurants are drive thru only or delivery. Basically, any business that faces the public is closed. Exceptions to that are stores, utilities, banks, factories, post office and hospitals. The doctors offices aren't doing anything elective. Emmy (in case you're new here she is my almost 16  year old.) had her last orthodontist appointment but it was canceled. We aren't stressing it because it was basically just to check that her retainer still fits and is working. It is so we're all good.

We had tickets to see Wicked on Broadway. That isn't happening now. We are really bummed it was Emmy's epic 16th birthday adventure in New York. Our tickets were 6 freakin' rows back from the stage. I'm dying inside. But I do agree the right decisions have been made. We will get tickets for another time and who knows maybe be will be closer than 6 rows. (Fingers Crossed)

I mean people we have to laugh around here. I spend a lot of money on those tickets, it was canceled (but we've been told a refund is coming) I had paid for our rooms and for 10 more I could have gotten insurance but I literally thought what in the world would keep us from going? Aside from an apocalypse. Oh yeah an actual apocalypse.  So that money is gone. I had paid a few hundred for Em to go to a School trip. I don't know if your state has this but ours has a mock government complete with elected officials and people passing laws. She had worked so hard on her Sex Trafficking bill and was ready to present it. She had a bill pass into law in 8th grade and was hoping to repeat it.   Nope the whole thing was canceled I'll only get a partial refund on that. She was invited to prom for two different schools. I thankfully did not buy a dress yet because it looks like school may be online for the rest of the school year.

On day 7 Em started talking in a Russian accent. She read about Rasputin and that did it. She has a really good accent. One of her best friends is from Russian. But its a little annoying.

My phone also decided that today would be a good day to slowly start its death spiral. It has lines through it and slowly fades so you can't see what you are looking at.....and yes I am wearing my reading glasses, thanks for asking.

So that's pretty much the last 7 days. Where are you and what are you doing to keep occupied in this crazy time?
