Future Holly

We are 4 days from the best Hollyday of the year. While I love my birthday and always make it a point to celebrate all month long. I am not really happy about the reminder that I am getting older. I actually read the letter from the high school about orientation wrong. I was off by a week. Even when the date was in bold print and underlined. I didn't realize my mistake until I asked her band director if I could have her for a few hours on Tuesday. He told me nicely that It was actually the next week and he had already given them that time off. Yeah I felt dumb. It didn't help when I find this in my mail box.

Really!?!?! They think I am old enough for the AARP. I wanted to cry when I saw this. It did get me thinking. What would Holly of the future look like? I started paying attention to the older women around me, and trying to decide how I think I will turn out. I've found a few that I think could be me.

  1. Ha! When I was a kid growing up, I would laugh so hard when my parents would get an AARP notification in the mail. They were mid 30s back then, mind you, so they start on you early. And now that I'm 30, I'm sure that laughter will stop abruptly the moment I open my own.

  2. I admit I cried a little. Even though I know, I'm way to young. Just the thought that the time is coming made me sad.
