Whats in a name

Yesterday I issued a challenge to guess my middle name. I gave a hint that its french but spelled redneck. Before I unveil that I want to list the top 10 craziest names I've heard.

  1. Latoyota Camry- Yeah like the car. I saw this in the local newspaper baby announcements.
  2. Rhoda Carr -Sorry Rhoda if you are reading this. I hate the teasing you must have gone through. I know I got many hours rejoicing in the fact that your name was worse than mine.
  3. Shithead- pronounced shuh theed- This is courtesy of my coworker who use to work in enrollment at a university
  4. OrangeJello- pronounced or on ja ello curtesy of an ex in law that had him as a patient. Before HIPAA
  5. Dragon- this is what a guy I went to school named his son
  6. Zildijian- pronounced Zild jun for all you non drummers out there. Its a brand of cymbals. Really awesome cymbals and also the name of my friends child. I'm seeing a pattern with my friends and weird names.
  7. Since I'm picking on my friends lets add Tirzah pronounced Tears Ah Its Abbeys middle name. It has grown on me, but for awhile I didn't like it. Her dad loved it and he was letting me pick her other two names so I went with it. She likes it so I guess I won't get the bad parent award today.
  8. Bunny- Bunny was my sister's girl scout leader. Super nice lady as you would imagine a Bunny to be
  9. Princess- Princess married a guy my sister went to school with. I'm actually kinda jealous. I want to be Princess.
  10. Anita- While Anita isn't a bad name in itself. Anita has the potential for some disastrous combos Mann, Glasscock (which was the last name of a TV news lady here), Cox you get the idea. Poor Anita.
Seriously makes me wonder what people are thinking when they name their babies. My cousin is named after Elvis. No her name isn't Elvis its Preslee. My other cousin was born on Christmas Eve.....so naturally she is Christie Eve. My mom was a Buddy Holly fanatic so I get to be Holly. Which I will take over the other name they were considering....Shasta (which is a type of pop/soda). I'm just thankful I'm as old as I am and a girl.....I could have been Prince.

Now back to me. My middle name is (drum roll please) Sheree. In french its spelled Cheri and means Dear. If you pronounce it Sherry I will correct you every time. Its not that I don't like the name Sherry. Its a nice name. One of my best friends is a Sherry, but that's not ME.

What are the craziest names you've ever heard?

  1. Haha my mom's name is Bunny! Well, her real name is Kathy but everyone has called her Bunny forever. Even to my cousins, she's auntie bunny. Her license plate says "Bunnys"

  2. I never did get a really good explanation as to where the hell dad came up with "Heath."

It's not a family name, not a very common name (especially at the time), he was unaware the candy bar existed, and it basically means "wasteland." Having all my prescriptions come up as "Heather" in the pharmacy database (because everyone assumed it was just a typo) always annoyed me as a kid, too.

Could've been worse, though. I was almost a "Bo," before grandma realized I was about to be named after dad's (horrible, infamous) cousin Bo Jack, and threatened to beat him if he did.

    1. I could have added Toffee to the list too. Maybe I should start a new list. Steph's first husband wanted to name their son Ty Bo. She said Hell No.

  3. I love crazy names! Latoyota Camry is a new one.

Growing up, there was a lady in my hood named Pansy Garden. I was an adult before I realized this was funny.

  6. My brother is an idiot... and he tried a French-ish middle name for his oldest... Laquinn. Probably in honor of my dad, Quintin, but should've been La Quinn... which is still bad. And, yeah, Anita? Could be pretty bad... and/or hilarious!
