Weekend Recap a day late

I mentioned I had a busy weekend.

Friday I had a conference to attend. I picked a pair of khaki pants to wear and a jungle print sheer top. I got to the conference and suddenly felt frumpy....and cold. What is it about banquet halls and freezing temps? Anyway, I was cold and feeling frumpy and a coworker had a gorgeous dress on. Which didn't help how I felt. Thankfully I always keep a sweater in my car. Usually a whole outfit but today was only a sweater. I did a quick wardrobe change. You meet some interesting people at conferences. The lady sitting beside me had the most blingtastic phone case and sunglasses case. It was covered in rhinestones.  I was jealous. The lady sitting across from me had my middle name as a first name. I LOVE my middle name but everyone pronounces it wrong which makes me road rage level annoyed. So I never use it because I HATE having to correct people all the time. I asked her how she pronounces her name and it is the same way my is. Then it happened. I totally stuck my foot in my mouth and offended her. I said "I love my name, but my parents totally redneckified (that's totally a word) the french spelling and now no one ever gets it right." She looked at me like in disgust and said my great grandfather was in WW2 and he only had a 7th grade education so he didn't know how to spell it in french he just did the best he could with how it sounded. (hang head in shame) I felt like such  a dog. Does this make you wonder what my middle name is? I'll let you guess and I'll reveal the name tomorrow. Hint: In french its spelled with a C but my parents spelled it with an S. If you know me in real life and know what my name is you aren't allowed to play. The first person to get it right will win a Thirty-one Black floral brushstrokes manicure nail file and a  Thirty-one black polka dot hang it up key fob. I'm a Thirty-one addict.

The biggest thing I learned at the conference is that my personality according to the Hartman color code personality quiz I am a yellow: http://www.colorcode.com

Motive [ Fun ]
Yellows are motivated by Fun. They are inviting and embrace life as a party that they're hosting. They love playful interaction and can be extremely sociable. They are highly persuasive and seek instant gratification. Yellows need to be adored and praised. While yellows are carefree, they are sensitive and highly alert to others' agendas to control them. Yellows typically carry within themselves the gift of a good heart

ABOUT YELLOW
Yellows need to look good socially, and friendships command a high priority in their lives. Yellows are happy, articulate, engaging of others and crave adventure. Easily distracted, they can never sit still for long. They embrace each day in the "present tense" and choose people who, like themselves, enjoy a curious nature. Yellows are charismatic, spontaneous, and positive; but can also be irresponsible, obnoxious, and forgetful. When you deal with a YELLOW, take a positive, upbeat approach and promote light-hearted, creative, and fun interactions.

Yup I think this was 100% accurate.

Saturday we got up early and headed to an amusement park about 3 hours away, with 26 kids. One of the perks of being a band directors girlfriend.

Some highlights of the trip.

  • The charter bus we took had some mechanical problems and started getting smokey. We pulled over at McDonalds and waited on a replacement bus to come get us.
  • Emmy and I had to pose with our BFF Ronnie
  • Abbey was horrified at our embarrassing behavior.
  • At the park Emmy, Greg and I were abandoned by the cool kids and had to roam the park ourselves.
  • We had fun. I kept thinking about how much it has changed since my childhood. Which made me feel old
  • Abbey finally caught up with us and had to pose with the British Invasion sign. Abbey is REALLY into everything English. EVERYTHING. She even wants me to paint the TARDIS from Dr Who on her wall.

Some things I found at Kings Island that I want is
  • A Bacon alarm clock. I have a love affair with bacon. If I could marry bacon I would
  • An emergency mustache. You just never know when you will need one
I also so a candidate for the show worst tattoo ever. I like quotes as tats. But that penmanship is pretty bad. It looks like it was done by someone with dysgraphia. I actually saw LOTS of bad tattoos but this is probably the worst or at least worst I could get a pic of. This actually reminds me of a few years ago when I was on a band trip to Kings Island and I showed my tattoo to Greg's Assistant and he said. Don't worry about it, we all do things that we are embarrassed of later. I said I just got this a few years ago. He was embarrassed but I thought it was funny. Not everyone can appreciate a cow tattoo, but in my defense its a very well done tat. The guy who did it was very talented. Downside is I've gained weight which means my cow has too. Poor cow. He looks like he is about to be taken to the market. At least no one can see it unless I chose to show them.

Emmy was so tired by the time we left that she fell asleep before we even pulled out of the park.

It was a wonderfully fun weekend and of course I hated to see it end.

    Motive [ Peace ]
Whites are motivated by Peace. They seek independence and require kindness. They resist confrontation at all costs. To them, feeling good is more important than being good. They are typically quiet by nature, process things very deeply and objectively with great clarity. Of all the colors, whites are the best listeners. They respect people who are direct but recoil from perceived hostility or verbal battle.

    ABOUT WHITE
Whites need their "alone time" and refuse to be controlled by others. Whites want to do things their own way and in their own time. They ask little of others and resent others demanding much of them. Whites are much stronger than people think, but are not often seen for their strength because they don't easily reveal their feelings. Whites are even-tempered, diplomatic, and the voice of reason; but can also be indecisive, unexpressive, and silently stubborn. When you deal with a WHITE, be kind, accept and support their individuality, and look for non-verbal clues to understand their feelings.

...I'm a little "bleh" on the overall results, though, and would only call it correct to about 75%. It looks like a 4-color system they're using, so you don't get much specificity. Since when did I ever avoid "hostility or verbal battle?" :p

    1. Its Sheree. I thought it was a bit mean too, because I was talking about my family and not judging hers.

  3. Celeste?

And I'm a red. Which definitely applied to me as a child, which is how it said to answer, but I was an only child. I think I've mellowed since then but it's still pretty accurate!

    MOTIVE [ Power ]
reds are motivated by Power. They seek productivity and need to look good to others. Simply stated, reds want their own way. They like to be in the driver's seat and willingly pay the price to be in a leadership role. reds value whatever gets them ahead in life, whether it be in their careers, school endeavors, or personal life. What reds value, they get done. They are often workaholics. They will, however, resist doing anything that doesn't interest them.

    ABOUT RED
Reds like to be right. They value approval from others for their intelligence and practical approach to life, and want to be respected for it. Reds are confident, proactive, and visionary; and but can also be arrogant, selfish, and insensitive. When you deal with a RED, be precise, factual, direct, AND show no fear!
