best mom ever

Abbey has had a great time this week at Science Camp. They've gone to the Morehead State University Space Science Center. They've made tons of cool toys. Today's toy was a robot. Here is Abbey holding her lil robot. Tomorrow they are taking a field trip to Cosi in Columbus OH.

I got woken up by Abbey today. She was begging me to go home (30 miles away) get her swim suit and bring it to her at camp. She is going home with a friend today and since it is melt your face off HOT here, they are going swimming. I, being the good mom that I am, took her the swim suit. Actually, I took all of her suits so she could pick out the one she wanted. My reward was a big hug and kiss in front of all 24 other campers and their parents. Yup I got some envious looks, from the parents who stopped getting acknowleged much less hugged and kissed in public, by their kids years ago. I know my days of being the best mom ever are numbered. Believe me I am enjoying them while they are here. I still miss my Emmy and can't wait until Saturday morning when I pick her up from my mom's house. I am sure she is having big adventures there.

Guess who thought today was Saturday? Yup me. I honestly can't wait to start work again on Monday. I can't keep my days straight, my days and nights are mixed up. Do any of you other teachers experience this during the summer?

I'd love to say that I have spent my last week of vacation doing something super awesome but I have been taking Abbey to Science Camp. 25 kids in the middle school got chosen to participate in this camp. She had a 100% all year in science so she was one of the lucky 25. Funny thing all of her best friends and current love interest were also chosen.

I wish I had something super cool to talk about but its pretty boring at the moment.

insomnia and the Brady Bunch

I suffer from insomnia. Summer is the worst for me. Sometimes I will literally be up until sunrise. Since I haven't had to work during the summer I didn't really let it bother me. However now that I will be going back to work outside the classroom I have to work during the summer. Its a trade off though because the new job is AWESOME. But back to my insomnia. As I type this its almost 3am....ohhh now the song 3 am by matchbox 20 is stuck in my head....anyway. As you can tell when I can't sleep my  mind wanders to all kinds of crazy things. Like, did you notice when the Carol and Mike Brady got married the girls became Brady's, There was no drama or fights they just happily changed their names to Brady. I haven't seen anything like that in real life. I guess that is why its a tv show. I also wander about the Munsters. Why did no one ever say anything to Marilyn about the people she lived with...why didn't the neighbors form a mob and run them out of town? Why am I still awake even though I have a ton of stuff to do? Why am I thinking about Dr. Pepper when I know it won't help me go to sleep?

food gawker

I actually seriously forgot it was Monday. Shew next week and the start of the new job will be brutal. Since I forgot it was Monday I forgot about my regular Monday link party. So you get a regular post from me today.

Everyone I know is addicted to pinterest. Don't try to deny it, I know you are. If you follow me on pinterest, I am sorry for all the food pins lately. You can totally blame that on  my lovely sister Heather. She introduced me to Its like pinterest for food and the best thing is it has a pin it tab beside every recipe. OMG I think I've pinned a million recipes. Recipes I will probably never make, because I hate cooking. But, they are there in my pinterest just in case I get hit over the head and suddenly start liking to cook.   If you aren't into cooking or making someone else cook so you can eat....there is also a craftgawker and weddinggawker. I don't need the weddinggawker, but I know a ton of  yall are getting married. Check it out....but don't blame me when you are addicted.

Sunday Social

My crappy internet service this week has really put a hamper on my link up this week. So I am so happy that I am at Greg's and can steal his internet for my Sunday Social link party.

Sunday Social
What is your all-time favorite song?
I don't have A favorite song. I am really random in what I listen to. My dad was a DJ as I was growing up so I was exposed to just about every genre of music you can imagine. One of my favorite songs is Enter Sandman by Metallica. I would sing it to my girlies when they were babies only I would sing it as if it was a lullaby.

What is your favorite singer/band?
My awesomely cute boyfriend Greg! Everything he sings sounds better to me than the original. Ok next favorite is Metallica, I should add only the old stuff though if you play me something from St. Anger I'll run screaming. I do love RISKAY and of fairly current people I like Jamey Johnson, I have a total love for Johnny Cash,

What is your theme song/song that best describes your life?
I always joke that if I had a theme song that played when I entered the room it would be the imperial death march

What songs put you in a good mood?
Not so much a what song as what TYPE of song. It has to be something with a beat. If its a slow or sappy song, I'm not going to be in as good a mood as if its something with a good beat.

What is your favorite road-trip music?
Something I can sing to. I am currently singing loudly and off key to Theory of  a Deadman. everything on the The Truth Is cd is awesome

What song are you embarrassed to admit you love?
Give in to Me from the Country Strong sound track. I know I am so lame. I don't even really like most new country but for some reason I really like it. I like the movie to

H54F and The versatile blogger

Guess what? My internet went down AGAIN!!! Seriously I think Windstream is trying to kill me. I was just getting into Psyche on Netflix's and I couldn't post my H54F post like usual. I didn't even bother calling this time. I just packed my car and came to Greg's. He's grilling while I pirate his internet. Seems like a fair trade to me.

When I was finally able to get online I was seriously overjoyed to see  that Melissa at Eleven Sixty and Stephanie at Bourbon and Glitter both nominated me for the Versatile Blogger award. Thanks Ladies. It melts my heart that people actually read this.

  2. I suffer from Migraines from October 2010 until January 2011 I had only 1 pain free day a week. The day would vary so I could never plan anything. It is the third prescription Migraine drug I've tried and it works wonders now I just have one every few months.

I know its late but I'm gonna link with Lauren at From my Grey Desk for High Five for Friday

Doesn't seem like Friday should be here again, but it is and here is my top 5 things from the week.

1. I found my diploma which I may have mentioned in a couple posts already. But I really am excited about that.

2.  My internet started working again. After I called windstream a million times (but then it went down again)

3. I pretty much laid around all week with my babies. We did hardly anything and it was so nice.

4. I have 1 more week off before I start a super awesome job (and I officially gave notice at my old job) I didn't get a response back from my resignation letter. I guess I didn't really expect one. Well, actually I did expect one.

5. I am slowly getting over my dislike for "real shoes" I bought three pairs of kitten heels today

I suck because I didn't take ANY pictures for the blog this week. I really need to be better about that.

California Steve and other ramblings

So I'm finally getting around to writing about my weekend....just in time for the new weekend. I'll give you a hint about where we went.
Did you guess Lexington, KY and Rupp Arena? Well why not?

Greg's friend Steve who was from Ky and then moved to California came for a visit. He is a HUGE UK fan (me? not so much) so we met him at the Hyatt which is attached to  Rupp and hung out all Saturday. It was fun. Steve is hilarious. I would have been surprised if I hadn't liked him though. You know when you date someone and you don't really like their friends but you tolerate them? Well I don't have that with Greg. I have honestly loved everyone of them that I have met. They have all been so much fun. I don't know if he feels that way about my friends though because other than a friend of mine that is engaged to a friend of his he has only met some of my friends once.

I drove them around we had to find a liquor barn because Steve didn't know that Kentucky doesn't sell beer or liquor on Sunday's.
Then we had to drive by University of Kentucky's campus. I blasted RISKAY (google her on youtube) she is absolutely NOT work safe and if you get offended by lyrics easily don't google her. The song I played was called Smell yo Dick. So you get an idea of what kinda of rap it is. I happen to think she is hilarious and awesome. The guys can't stand rap so that's why I played it...with the windows down and radio up :) So much fun.

As we were leaving on Sunday I had to snap this pic of Steve. He is kissing center court in case you are wondering what the crazy guy is up to. I have no idea why it turned out blurry.

So what else have I been up to? Well I finally read the Lucky One. Is it just me or can Nicholas Sparks write a tear jerker. I am not even a big crier and I find myself getting all weepy. Felt the same way when I read The Wedding. Unlike, what seems like everyone else I am not really a fan of The Notebook. Finally got all my files organized. Although that had more to do with the 10 hour search for my diploma.

Last night the girlies and I had to run to the store. I looked like complete crap. My hair was in a bun, I had baggy clothes on, and no make up. Guess who we run into? A guy I dated for a few years in grade school. I should add that we were about 2 hours from where he and I went to grade school. Anyway, we passed them and it was one of those things when he and I both stopped and turned around and looked at each other. I then kept walking but the girls wanted 20 questions about who he was. We ran into him again  later and he asked me for my number. I said nope, I can't, I have a jealous boyfriend. and then kept walking. Although, I don't really think Greg is very jealous at all. But, I didn't want to open that can of worms with the ex again. The girls were a little freaked out by the whole encounter. I have never been flirted with while they have been around before and they did not like it at all.

I think I am not pretty much caught up and am ready for my HF4F link up tomorrow and the weekend.

internet issues

I seriously can't stand my internet provider. I have called them 4 times this week 2 times in one day because my internet keeps going down. I completely missed my Wednesday pinterest post. I spent so much time trying to fix the problem that I didn't even get to work on the post about my weekend and now we are almost into another weekend. Sheesh I guess I have a lot to work on tonight.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

I lost my diploma, Its a good thing it only cost me about 30+ thousand, of which I am still paying for. I know mentioned that in my Monday GBU. I spent ALL DAY Monday looking for it. Literally it was 10 pm when I found it. My brain was literally fried. So I snuggled up on the couch with Westley and Tiger and watched Breakfast at Tiffany's.

How in the world have I gone all my life and never watched this movie?

If I had know that Audrey Hepburn's name in the movie was Holly, or that her Cat looked like my Tiger I probably would have watched it sooner. After all we owe a lot to this movie. Without it we may not have the little black dress. Who doesn't own a little black dress, or recognize that Tiffany's blue from a mile away?

For those of you who still haven't watched the movie. Go see it! Seriously its on Netflix. Here are some of my favorite quotes. Curtsey of IMDB

Holly Golightly: You could always tell what kind of a person a man thinks you are by the earrings he gives you. I must say, the mind reels.

Holly Golightly: Promise me one thing: don't take me home until I'm drunk - very drunk indeed.

Paul Varjak: [about Holly and Jose] So you're getting married, then?
Holly Golightly: Well, he hasn't really asked me, not in so many words.
Paul Varjak: Four you mean?
Holly Golightly: Huh?
Paul Varjak: Well that's how many it takes: will you marry me?

Paul Varjak: Holly, I'm in love with you.
Holly Golightly: So what?
Paul Varjak: So what? So plenty! I love you. You belong to me.

Paul Varjak: You know what's wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You're chicken, you've got no guts. You're afraid to stick out your chin and say, "Okay, life's a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that's the only chance anybody's got for real happiness." You call yourself a free spirit, a "wild thing," and you're terrified somebody's gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you're already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it's not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It's wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.
[takes out the ring and throws it in Holly's lap] Here. I've been carrying this thing around for months. I don't want it anymore.

Such a good movie. It is right up there with Armageddon, Sweet Home Alabama, Princess Bride,  Mortal Kombat, and the Crow as my fave movies.

I'm linking up with Kate and Kati for another week of the Good Bad and Ugly.

 The Good:
There were a TON of good things that happened over the weekend. I don't even know where to start. I got  to meet Greg's friend Steve. Hi Steve, I know your probably stalking me. lol Steve moved from Kentucky to California. So, not to confuse this Steve with his brother or any other Steve he knows here. Steve is called California Steve. California Steve was fun there will be a whole post about us hanging out but I left the SD card in my car so when I get back to my house today I'll start editing the pics. Also good was I got to shop for work clothes. I had some pants but really no tops. I found 6 work appropriate shirts for $40. Thanks in  part to Wet Seal's sale buy one item get the next for a penny. Can't beat that.

The Bad: Work needs a copy of my diploma and honestly I have no clue where it is. So that is something I need to work on this week.

The Ugly: My girls went on a mini vacation with my sister and I won't get to see them until Wednesday. I miss them something awful. I know they are having fun but I still wish they were with me.

High Five For Friday

Happy Friday!!!! Here is my H54F

1. I got the official call offering me the Technical Assistance Coordinator position. In a nut shell, I'll be helping Preschools, Day cares, and certified homes part of this is helping the teachers and directors with making positive changes and getting whatever other help they may need. I have 10 counties, which is about 95 facilities.
This is a county map of my state. The highlighted counties are my counties.

2.  I have had 6 people follow me this week. I think this is a record. Hi new followers. I'm so happy t to have you...happy to have my old followers too. All the sweet messages you guys leave totally melt my heart.

3. I get to meet Greg's friend Steve (from California) on Saturday. We are driving to Lexington for the day to hang with Steve and another couple we know.

4. I HAVE to buy some new clothes for the new job so while the guys are doing guy things like hitting up Guitar Center and I'm guessing Drum Center and probably any music store that they come across I'll be looking at cute clothes.

5. I get to see my mommy today. She only lives an hour from me, but I really only see her every few months.

Now for a question. When should I give notice to my current job? Greg said wait until I have signed papers with the new job. My current boss sent an email saying she wanted to meet with me the teachers next week but I asked around and I'm the only teacher that they have requested the meeting with. They have been notified that I applied for the job so I am sure its not a surprise to them. So what would  you guys do?

Confession time

I have a secret. Only those that REALLY know me irl know this about me. I am so embarrassed to say this, out loud, for everyone in blogland to read and judge me. Ok here goes......

I don't really like jewelry and I really don't know how to accessorize. Which may be a reason why I don't like jewelry. Every single piece I wear I never take off and each piece has a meaning. Like the Celtic knot band I bought while in labor with my oldest. Or, the twisted band that my great great grandfather made his wife for a wedding band. Its over a hundred years old and has been passed down through the family. There is a story about how it got stolen when I was in high school and by a crazy twist of fate I found it in Greg's hometown (which is in another state). That's pretty much it for me and jewelry.
That's not so bad you say? Ok how about this secret. I HATE shoes. I'd rather live in flop flops than anything else. As soon as I come home the shoes come off (even the flip flops).

Tomorrow will be another stay tuned for my High Five For Friday post.

oh, how Pinteresting

Wednesday is here again. I tell you the weeks are flying bye. Before I know it I'll be back at work. Which brings me to my pins this week. I started a new board for work attire. I teach at a very laid back school. I can wear jeans and any shirt as long as it has no logo and doesn't show too much skin. I can even wear flip flops. The (possible) new job is business casual. Which means I need clothes....and shoes.

This is of course a link up with Michelle at the Vintage Apple

I am not a dress person but I love this so much
I love Dear Abby
I know I won't be teaching kiddies anymore but I can still pass cool stuff along
This reminds me of a lesson I did with the "runaway bunny" sooo cute
sooo true. Good things always happen when I let go.

Best Wings EVER

I am working on another post that I probably won't be able to share with you until Thursday. In the meantime here is my recipe for the best wings ever.

Franks Red Hot
Country Crock
4-8 pounds of wings

Cook wings on grill. I prefer how a charcoal grill makes everything taste. Its completely up to you though. Cook the wings about 90% done.

Mix 50/50 Franks Red Hot and Country Crock coat the wings and then allow to finish cooking.
The sauce bakes into the meat so it isn't a goopy mess to eat. Its actually more like a dry rub. I LOVE these wings I literally could eat them all day long. We fixed 8 pounds of  them for the party on Friday (along with burgers and hot dogs) There were literally no wings left about half way through the night.

If you try them let me know how they turned out.

Birthday fun

Its Monday which means second interview day. I am super excited and nervous and really really really wanting this job.  So thoughts and prayers are definitely welcome!

I seriously had a busy weekend. It started with Greg's birthday party on Friday. We grilled. By WE, I mean He grilled and I played with Westley.

I think he makes the absolute BEST wings I have ever eaten. They are better than Buffalo Wild Wings and Hooters combined. I promise there is a post coming about this with directions on how to make it. After grilling, Greg and his band played music and I hung out with the guests. Looking around the party it is so funny to me that everyone is teachers except 2 people. It was so much fun.

Waking up the next morning we travel to Virginia to visit with his family. I love his family. His parents are the sweetest people EVER and his mom is going to make me fat. We had yet another cookout and I snuggled all over the cutest little one week old baby, and his big sister. Such cuties.

Sadly all the fun just killed me and I crashed on the couch and slept for HOURS missing all the daylight time and missing out on playing cornhole. Do you guys play hornhole where you are? If not its a bean bag toss kinda game where instead of beans the bags are filled with corn.

I am pretty terrible at this game. So terrible in fact that I googled throwing techniques. That improved my game by about 75% that being said I am still not great at it. But I am such a competitive person. I like to be great at everything I do.

Before heading home I talked Greg's brother into taking me on a Razr ride.

I love this toy. I want one of my own. Only sadly I really have no where around my house to ride it. There is a hill that is almost completely straight up and down. This does not really do it justice.

It  has the most beautiful view.

This is the hill looking at it from the top. Yup we rode up that. It wasn't even in 4 wheel drive. So  thankfully it has seat belts.
The weekend wore Westley out too.

Sunday Social

I usually only do a link up on Monday, Wednesday and Friday's but this looked fun so here it is my Sunday Social link up

Sunday Social

How did you come up with your blog name? I had been kicking around the idea of starting a blog. I use to write ALL THE TIME.I also use to write for moms today (back in 2001-2006 ish) That was before I ever heard of a blog. The principal was the same though. When the iparenting sight that hosted my (diary) ended I just gave up writing. I had thought about starting a blog several times but didn't want to be stuck writing about just parenting or just fashion etc. So finally I decided to give it a try and a coworker helped me go through names. She liked since my last name is Grass we could play on that. So We chose the Grass is Always Greener which I love because it could be so many other things.

What is your favorite thing about blogging? Writing again and the comments that let me know I'm not just typing to myself

What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now cant live without? Well I'm still fairly new and I haven't found that yet. But I am thinking I must get a phone that lets me use instagram because I am so jealous of the pics

Facebook or Twitter? and why? I have a fb and I also have a twitter than I never use. I can see the benefit of both but  honestly I am hating all the spam like pics that get put on FB and the drama I really don't want to read an argument between fighting couples

If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?Lars Ulrich. The drummer from Metallica. I adore him. I want him to hang out with me and let me play his Tama.

What is something you want people to know about your blog?  I am completely random. I may never write about the same subject twice or I may dwell on something for weeks. You just never know with me.

High Five for Friday

Wooohooo it is Friday and that means a few things. A link up with Lauren and H54F. It also means a weekend and a party tonight with Greg's friends and then later a trip to Virginia for Greg's bday.

So here ya go my H54F

  1. Its Greg's birthday today. We ate some yummy food and went shopping.
  2. Oddly enough on Greg's birthday, I hear my divorce was finally signed today. This has probably been the longest uncontested divorce in the history of divorces.
  3. I have a second interview for my dream job on Monday. I'm nervous and excited at the same time.
  4. The issues I've struggled with, with Emmy and school is finally over to a point. I still have to tutor her this summer but that is no problem. She is actually improving rapidly.
  5. We are having a party tonight to celebrate all the good things that has happened interview Greg's bday, some other friends who have had birthdays recently, Its summer and we are all off for the summer.
Hope you guys have a great weekend. Hopefully I will come back on Monday with some cute pictures of Greg's great nephew Will. He was just born this week.
